The Trailer Gear Box is meant to replace a person and not rated by weight. If you can hand crank your trailer loaded, Then the trailer gear box will be able to lift it.

The Main Difference is the Footprint of the box itself. The Original Trailer Gearbox has a footprint of 6 x 8 while the Multi Mount has a footprint of 4 x 6. This smaller size allows the Multi mount to be mounted on more applications then the original.

The SuperMax and Aluminum Multi Mount carry a 5 year limited warranty. The Polymer Multi Mount, comes with a 1 year limited warranty. As for the Speed Turtle It comes with a 1 year limited warranty. For all warranty questions please refer to our terms and conditions page.

While we try to make a product that is universal to all trailers, we realize that most manufacturers vary slightly. We recommend using any cordless drill 20 Volts and up. Please refrain from using an impact or hammer drill as they will break your gear box.

Depending on the gearbox the gear ratios are a little different. The SuperMax gear ratio is 13-1 and the Aluminum Multi Mount GearBox has a ratio of 11-1. While the Polymer Multi Mount has both a light load and heavy load Drive. The Light load is 3-1 while its heavy load is 11-1. Lastly, our Speed Turtle Gearbox offers a 3-1 Gear ratio. 

If it is making a clicking or grinding noise your clutch may be set to low. Most cordless drills have a clutch to limit the amount of torque that they can deliver so you can set it to drive screws in without going to deep. The clutch is a ring that is located between the chuck and drill motor body, they usually have numbers showing the setting.  Turn this setting higher or go all of the way to lock if needed.

Make sure the trailer is not bottomed out all of the way up. If so it can’t go any higher. Make sure that your battery is fully charged. Even if the battery is fully charged, it may be a bad battery.

If your gearbox were broken it would most likely be locked up. If this was the case then the drill would be extremely hard to hold onto because it would be trying to turn your hand instead of the gearbox. If the drill is easy to hold onto and the gearbox is not turning, the drill and or battery is bad.

You can test for this by using a ratchet and 3/4″ socket on your gearbox. If you can spin the gearbox with the wrench and your trailer goes up/down the gearbox is working. If you can not turn the gearbox with the wrench and it is not bottomed out all of the way up or down, the gearbox is likely needing repair.

Most jacks have a grease fitting or two. The jack should be lowered most of the way down, greased with a grease gun, raised up 1/3 of the way, greased again and greased again all of the way up.

To grease the round style top crank jacks, couple the trailer to your tow vehicle so you can remove the jack from your trailer via the three screws that hold it on. Remove the handle (Or gearbox if you have installed one) from the top of the jack, this allows the screw inside the jack to slide out the bottom of the jack. Put grease directly on all of the screw then re install it in the jack body. It can be difficult to get it lined up with the hole at the top of the jack body so have a flashlight handy to shine in the hole so you can see when it lines up so you can push it through. Re install your gearbox or handle.
